Overview
This immersive journey begins at 8:00 a.m. as we travel to the Quechua community of Kintu, located near the stunning Lake Piuray. You’ll be welcomed with traditional dances before diving into an interactive workshop focused on native Andean tubers. After enjoying a local lunch, you’ll witness a masterclass in traditional weaving, a craft preserved for generations. The day concludes in the historic “living Inca village” of Ollantaytambo, where you will spend the night. It is a profound cultural encounter that celebrates the enduring spirit and hospitality of the Andean people.
Itinerary
DAY 1: Ocutuan community
Today, we will pick you up at approximately 8:00 a.m. and drive to the Kintu community of Coca Ocutuan, a small Andean village home to about thirty Quechua men and women who proudly preserve their ancestral traditions.
Located at an altitude of 3,780 meters (12,400 feet) near the serene Lake Piuray, this community will greet us with traditional dances and warm hospitality. You’ll take part in an interactive workshop on native Andean tubers and potatoes, essential staples of the local diet and culture.
Afterward, we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by the community, followed by a weaving demonstration — one of the Andes’ most emblematic and time-honored crafts, showcasing techniques passed down through generations.
In the afternoon, we’ll say farewell to our hosts and continue our journey through the Sacred Valley, arriving at the town of Ollantaytambo, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by history and the charm of this living Inca village.
