Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN THE IMPERIAL CITY
Upon your arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) in Cusco, a member of our team will be waiting for you at the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name.
You will be welcomed with a amenity and transferred in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel After check-in, we recommend you take some time to rest and acclimatize to Cusco’s altitude (3,400 m / 11,155 ft above sea level).
Luxury Tip: On your first day, we suggest having a light meal such as a soup or herbal infusion (muña or coca tea) and avoiding heavy physical activity. Many of our guests also enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or oxygen therapy, available at your hotel upon request.
Your guide will reconnect with you in the evening or the following morning, depending on your itinerary, to review the experiences ahead.
DAY 2: OCUTUAN TOWN
This morning, your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to begin a unique journey into the heart of the Peruvian Andes, where centuries-old traditions and breathtaking landscapes converge.
Your destination is the Kintu Community of Coca Ocutuan, nestled at over 3,780 meters (12,400 feet) above sea level near Lake Piuray, in the highlands of Chinchero. This intimate community is home to 30 Quechua men and women dedicated to preserving their ancestral heritage.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with traditional Andean music and dance, a heartfelt expression of gratitude and hospitality.
A brief, hands-on workshop introducing you to the remarkable diversity of native Andean tubers, with a focus on the sacred potato, a symbol of resilience and biodiversity in the Andes.
A traditional lunch, lovingly prepared by members of the community using local, organic ingredients a true farm-to-table experience.
A captivating weaving demonstration, showcasing the intricate techniques, natural dyes, and symbolic patterns that are hallmarks of Andean textile art one of the region’s most revered cultural expressions.
At the end of the afternoon, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cusco, with memories of a truly authentic and personal cultural encounter.
DAY 3: OLLANTAYTAMBO – KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA
Your luxurious Peruvian glamping adventure begins today! After breakfast at your hotel (or box breakfast provided by your hotel), your guide will take you on a scenic drive to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m / 9,160 ft.) to purchase any last minute essentials. From there you’ll continue to Piscacucho (KM 82), the gateway to the Inca Trail, where you’ll meet your dedicated team.
The trek starts with stunning views of the Urubamba River and the snow-capped Verónica Mountain (5,893 m / 19,334 ft.). You’ll pass through semi-arid landscapes, Andean villages, and the ancient Llactapata ruins. A gourmet lunch awaits at Tarayoc (2,675 m / 8,776 ft.), before continuing through the lush Llulluchapampa Valley.
Upon reaching our luxury Wayllabamba treat yourself to a revitalizing hot shower and a soothing massage amidst the serene natural surroundings. End the day with a spectacular meal prepared by our talented chef, and retreat to your heated tent for a peaceful night under the stars, ready for the adventures to come.
DAY 4: WAYLLABAMBA – DEAD WOMAN’S PASS – PACAYMAYO
Rise with the brilliant sun and enjoy a lavish breakfast to prepare for the most challenging day of the Inca Trail. The adventure begins with a 1.5-hour climb towards the Ravine of Ayapata (3,328 m / 10,019 ft.) passing through a lush forest and following a crystalline stream alongside the trail. We will stop for a delectable lunch in Llulluchapampa (3,760 m / 12,336 ft.).
After lunch, we take on the most demanding climb—2.5 hours of ascent to reach the summit of Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 m / 13,829 ft.), where you’ll be rewarded with exhilarating views and a profound sense of accomplishment. Toast this moment with a glass of champagne.
We will arrive at our serene Pacaymayo campsite (3,500 m / 11,483 ft.), nestled in a valley surrounded by towering mountains. Here, you’ll revel in a hot shower and allow a restorative massage to melt away any tension from the trek. Afterwards, enjoy a gourmet dinner served by our waiter in the dining tent.
DAY 5: PACAYMAYO – WIÑAYWAYNA
After an energizing breakfast, our trek begins with a 1-hour hike to the Runkurakay ruins, an Inca checkpoint with stunning semi circle architecture, before ascending to Runkurakay Pass (3,950 m / 12,959 ft.). After passing a seaweed-covered lake and the ancient settlements of Sayacmarca and Chaquicocha, you’ll enjoy a gourmet lunch surrounded by lush greenery. Along the way, immerse yourself in the rich biodiversity of the cloud forest. This lush environment is home to vibrant plant life, such as wild orchids, bromeliads, and ferns, which thrive in the misty atmosphere. Keep an eye out for the incredible birdlife that inhabits this region, including hummingbirds, tanagers, and the elusive Andean Cock-of-the-Rock.
Arriving at our Phuyupatamarca campsite, unwind with a hot shower and savor a well-deserved massage and satisfying dinner. As night falls,experience the magic of stargazing in the Peruvian Andes (weather permitting). Far from city lights, the sky comes alive with a breathtaking display of stars, constellations, and planets, with the Milky Way stretching brightly overhead.
DAY 6: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Rise early, savor a balanced breakfast, and embark on the final leg of your journey towards the ultimate destination—Machu Picchu. Follow the ancient Inca steps through the breathtaking Wiñaywayna archaeological site, ascending to the sacred Sun Gate (Intipunku). Surrounded by the stunning views of the cloud forest and intricate Inca terraces, your path winds through tunnels carved into the mountainside. At last, we arrive at the awe-inspiring Sun Gate (2,750 m / 9,020 ft.), where you’ll catch your first magical glimpse of Machu Picchu. The sight of the ancient citadel framed by towering peaks is a truly emotional and unforgettable moment. After soaking it all in, descend for about 45 minutes to the citadel itself—congratulations, you’ve completed the Inca Trail!
Your expert guide will then lead you through the sacred ruins, sharing fascinating insights into Machu Picchu’s history, purpose, and enduring mysteries. Take your time to capture unforgettable photos and immerse yourself in the magic of this iconic site. After exploring, enjoy a satisfying meal in one of Aguas Calientes’ finest restaurants. Later, board the Vistadome train for a scenic return journey. Upon arrival at the train station, a friendly staff member will escort you to your hotel in Cusco, where you can relax and reflect on your extraordinary adventure.
DAY 7: FREE DAY IN CUSCO
You will begin the day with a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, followed by a massage using traditional relaxation techniques and local herbs (ideal for relieving the fatigue of trekking). Afterwards, enjoy a gentle stroll through the Plaza de Armas, where you can sit, have a coffee, or simply take in the local atmosphere.
In the afternoon, you will have time for a light and nutritious lunch at a healthy restaurant, followed by a leisurely walk through the city of Cusco, visiting some of its most iconic streets.
