While many are beloved by their neighborhoods, many others face abandonment and health challenges. At Crossover Peru, our heart beats for all locals—including the four-legged ones. That’s why we created the Dog Shelter Volunteer in Cusco project, a space where travelers can trade their trekking poles for a leash and a wagging tail.
The Reality of Street Dogs in the Andes
In the high-altitude city of Cusco, thousands of dogs roam the streets. While the community does its best, local shelters are often overwhelmed and underfunded. What Does a Day of Volunteering Look Like?
