Itinerary
Today’s adventure starts early in the morning from your Cusco hotel. Have breakfast there (or request a box breakfast) and our representative will be waiting for you. Head to the train station passing by the Ollantaytambo town (2792 m. / 9160.1 ft.) and later board our Vistadome 31 train to Km. 104 (2170 m. / 7119.4 ft.). The magic starts!
Our first visit is the Chachabamba archaeological site (2178 m. / 7145.7 ft.) in the tropical forest with an intriguing history. Later, we will appreciate beautiful endemic orchids and birds and the Wiñaywayna archaeological site (2650 m. / 8694.2 ft.) meaning “forever young”.
An exclusive picnic lunch is ready for you then keep on through steep stairs for about 1.5 hours to reach the Sun’s Gate or Intipunku (2750 m. / 9022.3 ft.) Be rewarded with astonishing views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding valley. Following, we will initiate the hike down to Machu Picchu (2430 m. /7972.4 ft.) Have a glimpse of the surreal sunset and then be transferred to your hotel.
Coordinate with your guide the pick-up time for the following day. Now, it’s time for a well-deserved dinner and a restful sleep!Hiking Distance: 12 km / 7.5 mi
Join the tour guide in the 30-minute bus ride to the World Wonder. Do not worry if there is any queue due to the high season, just have a good time with our tour guide.
Once in Machu Picchu (2430 m. / 7972.4 ft.), the stories, enigmas as well as nature and architecture will be the most beautiful experience ever in your whole trip. After the guided tour, you can explore by yourself to take pictures or revisit the ruins.
This beautiful day ends with a delightful lunch at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge Hotel and the bus back to Aguas Calientes. The train will take you back to Cusco to meet our representative and end this adventure.Hiking Distance: 10 km / 6.2 m
