Overview
Huchuy Qosqo is a fantastic and challenging full-day trek in the vicinity of Cusco. This is a perfect complement to traditional sightseeing tours as it allows travelers to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery that surrounds Cusco and amazing views of the Sacred Valley of the incas. El sitio recibió su nombre en el siglo XX; anteriormente se conocía como Kakya Qawani. Pedro Cieza de Leon, in his Second Chronicle of Peru, stated that the palaces were built by Viracocha, the eighth Inca ruler. Among a large number of buildings, some of stone, some of adobe, is a kallanka (great hall) 40 m long. The water supply is an Inca built irrigation canal, filled with stones about 800 meters.
