Overview
Chachapoyas is close to the impressive waterfalls of Gocta and the archaeological wonder of Kuelap; and in the center of the city, the Plaza Mayor is a spectacle to be surrounded by beautiful buildings with typical colonial balconies. Here there is much to see, do and talk about, thanks to its friendly people who are always willing to show us their beautiful city. Chachapoyas (founded as San Juan de la Frontera de los Chachapoyas, on September 5, 1538) is a city located in the highlands of the department of Amazonas Peru, capital of the province of Chachapoyas and the department of Amazonas. The historic center of Chachapoyas, declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation on November 12, 1988, stands out for its mansions with courtyards and gardens inside, and churches, as well as its “chachapoyano” style buildings.
