2025 INCA TRAIL AVAILABILITY & PERMITS IMPORTANT BOOKING TIPS
By securing your permit early and choosing a reputable tour operator like Inca Land Adventures, you can ensure a smooth and well-planned adventure on the Inca Trail.
Permit Availability: The Inca Trail is highly regulated, with only 500 permits issued daily, of which only 200 are for trekkers (the rest are for guides and porters). These permits tend to sell out quickly, especially for the peak trekking months of May through August.
Permits for 2025 became available starting in October 2024, so it’s advisable to book as early as possible—ideally at least 6 to 8 months in advance.
Booking Tips: Booking your trek early not only secures your desired dates but also offers the best chances of staying at the most convenient campsites, like Wiñaywayna, which is closer to Machu Picchu. If you book last-minute, you might end up at less desirable campsites, leading to longer hikes on the final day.
Non-Refundable Permits: Once purchased, Inca Trail permits are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you need to change your trek dates after purchasing your permit, you would have to buy a new permit. Therefore, it’s crucial to finalize your plans before making a booking.
Closed Period: Note that the Inca Trail is closed every February for maintenance, so no permits are available during this month.
